What should be the emphasis of our justice system, to punish or rehabilitate?
What should we do if it becomes possible to change a person (via a medical procedure) from remorseless criminal into a law-abiding person of conscience and empathy who makes positive contributions to society?
Should such a procedure be voluntary or mandatory?
If this is a complete change in personality, is it still the same person?
Should the changed person continue to be punished for past crimes?
