About us
This group is for people who are interested in learning and sharing old-time skills. Learn about outdoor cooking and baking, using herbs to prepare salves and lotions, spinning and natural dyes, blacksmithing, old-time toys. We'll explore the historical buildings in St Louis city and county and learn about the people who settled and built our community. We'll meet once a month and have a guest demonstration and hands-on activity each time we meet up.

Learn more about 'Mad' King George
St. Louis County Library - Clark Family branch, 1640 South Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO, USAs we continue on our year-long investigation of all things 1776 - We're going to learn about attitudes and treatments of mental illness during Revolutionary times.
"Mad" King George refers to King George III of Great Britain and Ireland, who ruled from 1760 to 1820. Best known for losing the American colonies and suffering from bouts of severe mental illness.
In 1773, the first hospital in the United States designed solely for the treatment of people living with mental illness was opened in Williamsburg, Virginia.
