🤙The Hang Loose Ride at Fort Worden (5.9) Miles)
Get ready for some GPS route art!
Join us for a fun, social, and slightly quirky bike ride through historic Fort Worden State Park. While camping there in my motorhome, I mapped out a unique loop along the park's roads and trails that forms the perfect "Hang Loose" (Shaka) hand sign on a GPS tracker. Whether you want to create some fun Strava art or just enjoy a scenic cruise through the fort, this is the perfect casual ride.
Let's meet outside The Commons building at Fort Worden. Look for the group with bikes gathering near the front parking lot that is behind the Park Office building at 202 Eisenhower Way.
Ride Details - Distance: 5.9 miles; Elevation Gain:
345 feet (a few short, rolling hills) Pace: Social & Casual (approx. 10-12 mph group pace). We will ride as a group and won't leave anyone behind!
Time: Expect around 45 to 60 minutes to complete the loop together along with short stops for photo ops and to enjoy the views and various historical bunkers/ batteries. Terrain: A mix of paved park roads and dirt/ gravel trails.
What to Bring - The Bike: An E-bike; The Gear: A helmet is required. Bring water and your phone/ GPS bike computer if you want to track the "Hang Loose" shape! The Vibe: Casual and friendly.
Post-Ride Hangout (Optional) After we finish, we'll have a little time to chat about camping and check out our route art maps. Then, right at 12:00 PM, anyone who wants to stay for lunch or drinks can head right next door to Taps at the Guardhouse! They have a great patio with fire pits, local craft beers and wine. (I will confirm their hours prior to meeting)
