If you enjoy the arts and expanding your perspective then this may be the group for you! Did you know there are OVER 50 museums in the Detroit Metro area as well as many cultural interests? Join us to enjoy this rich cultural history we have accumulated here over all these years!
We will have an event at least once a month. It will start with a venue throughout a particular museum or other cultural venue, then convene for a dinner or lunch where we can discuss our viewpoints of the art experience we shared.
All viewpoints need to be respected and treated with kindness. Since the host is expecting you and sometimes there are waitlists, we will abide by the common 3 no show rule before you would be considered for suspension.
Participation in finding and hosting events is always welcome so please feel free to know your ideas will be not only be welcome but part of what will make this group grow!
In addition we require a photo of yourself so we can recognize you at events. Do not apply with a generic photo.

University District Homes Tour 2026

Tickets can be purchased on the University District Community Association website.
Tickets purchased are fully refundable until 48 hours before the event.

Join us for tours inside six of Detroit’s most well-kept homes with unique decor and touches, many from the Art Deco era. If you love historic houses or are looking for ideas on how to tastefully preserve and renovate your home, this is the day for you!
You will see period features up close, carefully preserved or restored by homeowners, including original hardwood floors, stained glass windows, Pewabic and Flint Faience tile, grand foyers, original and renovated kitchens and baths, crystal chandeliers, decorative original plaster crown moldings, and impressive fireplaces.
Walk, bike, or drive to tour the neighborhood and see the homes. We invite you to enjoy our friendly and inclusive atmosphere and meet some of the people that make the University District such a vibrant place to live.
People of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend the Home Tour. Inside the homes, children who can walk must be supervised closely by an adult. For children who don’t walk, they will need to be carried. Most homes have stairs that cannot be easily navigated with strollers. This almost 100-year old neighborhood has some uneven sidewalks, and not all of the homes on the tour have handrails on outdoor stairs and landings. Due to the standards of construction in the 1920s and 1930s, most interior doorways are not wide enough for wheelchairs to get through.

Presenting a Georgia O'Keefe Architectual exhibition at the DIA
Detroit Art Institute, 5200 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI, USGeorgia Okeefe's paintings of architecture capture the dynamic characteristics of the built environment. THe barns, skyscrapers, churches, and houses that she painted in her recognizable and abstracted style are filled with poignant personal meaning. There will be 35 paintings by her created during one of the most productive stages of her long career from the 1920's till the 1960s. This is the FIRST PRESENTATION of the full breadth of her architectural paintings. These works will challenge visitors of the beauty and complexity of the environment that surrounds them.
GENERAL admission is free to Tri county residents but the exhibition has a $20 fee for those residents. It is only $20 to purchase there that morning rather than purchasing on line! For more information about this exhibition press HERE

I'm seated in Row F, seat 201.Detroit Story Fest returns for its 3rd year. In 2024, it sold out at the Detroit Film Theater. The event needed a larger venue and was moved to the Detroit Opera House in 2025 and again sold out. I'm so excited to attend this year. The stories were powerful, raw, humorous and moving. Join me at this year's event.
