What is a Pow wow?!
A Pow Wow is a Native American tradition that brings together many different tribes and communities, a gathering of Nations. Pow Wows are cultural celebrations that include dancing, singing, socializing, crafts, arts, and food.
Please join me for Thee pow wow of all powwows. You will see Cherokee, Cree among other tribes, rich in culture, tradition, and friendship.
We will meet between 1130 and 12 noon for a 12 PM start . 12 PM is when all of the Native American Indian nations come together and there is a prayer ceremony. And then they begin their beautiful, cultural dances .
Important ::
Sharing this park space is the Atwood craft show . The entry fee for that is something like five dollars . There is a line of trees that divides that section of the park with the section that the Native American powwow will be held . Park People can take you there via their golf cart . Or you can walk there. The native American Indian portion is free but the way the parking is situated, you must pay the entry fee and go through the Atwood craft show in order to get to the powwow.
How will you find me in this giant park? I will be at the Native American Indian powwow side of the park at the entrance of the Native American side: you will find me a holding my umbrella, loud and proud. So look for the umbrella . Did I say look for the umbrella ? Look for the umbrella.
And then, from there, we will enjoy the powwow, and then we can go back-and-forth and meander between the pow wow and the craft show where you can explore to your hearts’ content!
There will be food to purchase, including native American Indian food . You must try the fry bread. I don’t care if you are on a diet you must try it because diet is “die with a T “. And today is Saturday so you don’t get to “die with a T “on Saturdays.
Please bring cash because although you can use your credit card, sometimes the Internet is spotty . And we don’t want a spotty Internet to get between you and your goodies, do we ?
There will be some benches for us to sit on, however this place gets crowded so please be prepared to either stand or sit down on the grass. In other words, do not I repeat do not wear your ball gowns or tuxedos.
Remember to bring your cameras because you are aboutto be wow’ed. Not just wow’ed—— but you will be POW- WOW’ed!!!!
Important: if you need to message me like if you are lost or running late or anything: please do so in the “general comments”section because I only have two eyes, but the group has two eyes multiplied by how many of the group is and they can help me manage the messages so that we can find you or help you. Because let’s face it, a billion eyes are better than two eyes. Why do you think flies have 5 eyes? Look at snails. Do you think those two little pointy things are just two eyes? What about butterflies? Have you ever heard “ommatidia?” If you ever have trouble sleeping at night, which I do, like right now, look it up! It will be sure to get you to sleep.
Please arrange carpool with each other if needed by posting your comments in the comment section for this Meet Up .
If you would like to stay later for glow hoop, dancing , they do not start until 730.
However, this Meet Up will officially end at 6:00 because I do not want people to get home too late because remember it takes an hour and a half to get there from Cleveland .
So put on some comfortable shoes, dress appropriate for the weather so make sure to check the weather on Saturday, bring hats, sunglasses, sunblock, etc. etc. bring plenty of water (yes you’ll be able to purchase water there, but isn’t it nice to already have water on hand and you better stay hydrated I’m not gonna be doing CPR that day.) , wear your stretchy pants, come hungry for food and for culture, and get ready for some fun!
