Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall Pistyll Rhaeadr is one of the most iconic natural landmarks in Wales, located near the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in Powys. It is the tallest single-drop waterfall in Wales and England, plunging 240 feet (73 meters) in three stages over a rocky cliff. The waterfall is formed by the River Disgynfa as it cascades down the Berwyn Mountains into the valley below.
Pistyll Rhaeadr is often described as a place of serenity and natural beauty. Surrounded by lush greenery and craggy rock faces, it has long been a source of inspiration for poets, artists, and walkers. The waterfall is accessible via a short walk from a nearby car park and is also the starting point for longer hikes into the hills.
**Berwyn Mountains (Mynyddoedd y Berwyn)**The Berwyn Mountains are a remote and relatively unspoiled range straddling the border of Powys, Denbighshire, and Wrexham in northeast Wales. Unlike the better-known peaks of Snowdonia or the Brecon Beacons, the Berwyns are quieter, offering a peaceful and often solitary experience for hikers and nature lovers.
Together, Pistyll Rhaeadr and the Berwyn Mountains offer a stunning blend of dramatic natural scenery and peaceful wilderness, making them a favored destination for those seeking tranquility, hiking adventures, or a connection to the rugged heart of Wales.
