What we’re about
This is the Meetup group of the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance (BMA). We have 3 group rides every week for riders of all levels. Rides are open to everyone (members and non-members). Find out more about BMA.
About BMA The mission of BMA is to serve as a positive voice for mountain biking in the greater Boulder Colorado area by improving the trail experience for all users through social rides and events, advocacy, and trail building. Join BMA today to support our efforts!
This group hosts weekly group mountain bike rides for those who want to explore the MTB trails around Boulder with others at their level. The rides are meant to be fun for all, so those intimidated by more advanced riders, fear not. If you need to get off your bike and walk it up a steep or tricky section, it's OK! We try to keep a pace that works for the whole group. All our rides have a Ride Guide, and many also have a sweep and are "no-drop" rides.
Our weekly rides:
🟢 - These casual-paced rides have little elevation gain, few technical features, no exposure and are appropriate for beginners
🔵 - Our intermediate rides are moderately paced, have 700’-1200′ of elevation gain and some exposure
⚫ - Advanced rides not only climb lots of elevation, but also have very steep pitches with technical features thrown in.
⚫⚫ - Double black rides are on trails that even a strong intermediate rider may have trouble with. Steep climbs, big drops, rolling over boulders, and jumps! Considerable risk of OTB (over the bars) and injury.
Tuesday - GurlzRide (🟢/🔵)
Wednesday - Knobby Wednesday (🟢)
Thursday - Trails & Ale (🔵/⚫)
Looking to improve your riding? We also offer MTB Skills Clinics for all levels. Find out more about skills clinics.
Want to get involved? We are an all volunteer organization and are always looking for enthusiastic people to lead rides, volunteer at events, help with admin, participate on a committee etc.
Some of the trails we frequently ride around Boulder: Betasso, Marshal Mesa, Dowdy Draw, Heil Ranch, Walker Ranch, and Magnolia.
Please arrive a few minutes before the posted time of the ride. If it says the ride is at 6pm, then that's when we start peddling. Looking forward to seeing you on the trail!

Once a month, BMA will host a special Monday advanced level Trails & Ale. This ride is for expert-level riders. The pace will be chill but the trails will be difficult. We'll be hitting up Maryland Mountain - think more Ore Chute and less Fast Money for this route.

- Gurlz Ride 🔵Betasso Preserve Trailhead, Boulder, CO
🔵 This week we will be riding at Betasso Preserve, an intermediate riding area. Expect flowing single track that is mostly easy, with some small embedded rocks and rooty areas, and few stiff pitches. Some trails are fairly narrow with exposure and may not be suitable for beginners. The full figure 8 route of both loops is a bit under 7 miles and 800 ft of elevation gain. Extra Benjamin loops can add to the fun and mileage.

- Knobby Wednesday 🟢Corral Trailhead, Boulder, CO
🟢 Overland Loop is all singletrack, all the time. Some fun "whoopdies" and some "swoops" and probably a "thingamajig" or two! The trail is only about 2 miles long and packs a lot of great beginner (and even some green-blue) level features. We'll loop this trail a few times, and also check out the new Schoolhouse Loop and skills area.
