What we’re about
A group for people interested in talking about and hacking on Kubernetes, Google’s solution for scheduling and orchestrating containers at scale. We’re excited about microservices, containers, the distributions that run them and the solutions that deploy, manage, and extend them. Any skill level is welcome; we’re all new to Kubernetes and we want to create an open, welcoming environment for other Kubernauts. Contact us if you are interested in speaking at or sponsoring the meet-up. We welcome content and demos.

1. No-Instrumentation Tracing & Instant Root Cause on K8s, with Oved Laurie
Kubernetes unlocks the power of eBPF, enabling codeless tracing without touching a single line of your code. In this session, we’ll show how to capture service-to-service traces instantly with Beyla and apply AI-driven Bayesian network analysis to uncover the true root cause of issues across your microservices. No code changes, no manual configuration, just clear answers, fast.2. Observability, eBPF, State of Cloud, with Noam Levy
Traditional SaaS-based observability solutions come with major challenges: unpredictable costs, fragmented tooling, and vendor lock-in.
In this session, we’ll introduce the B.O.S.S paradigm - Bring your own cloud, One-stop shop, Standardized, and Self-reliant - outlining a modern approach to observability that prioritizes cost efficiency, data sovereignty, open standards, and next-generation technologies like eBPF.3. It’s the Hitchhiker's Guide to OpenTelemetry, with Shawn Pitts
Software powers the world but also needs to be kept healthy. That means knowing what’s happening under the hood before small issues become big problems. In this talk, we’ll explore the galaxy of OpenTelemetry, the open standard for collecting logs, metrics, and traces that help you monitor and troubleshoot your systems. So whether you run massive Kubernetes clusters or you’re just curious about software as a whole you’ll walk away with practical examples, a few new tricks, and maybe even a towel.About our sponsors
Causely, assures continuous application performance and service reliability. Our Causal Reasoning Platform automatically captures cause and effect relationships based on real-time, dynamic data across the entire application environment.Grafana Labs, provides an open and composable observability stack built around Grafana, the leading open source technology for dashboards and visualization.
groundcover, is a cloud application monitoring solution that reinvents the domain with eBPF 🐝 . Built for modern production environments, it enables teams to instantly monitor everything they build and run in the cloud without compromising on cost, granularity, or scale. Collect logs, metrics and traces instantly with eBPF, and store them inCloud, on your infrastructure, managed by us.

FAQ:
- Do I need to bring anything? Yes, your laptop.
- Any pre-requisite knowledge? No.
- Is there a virtual option? Nope, in-person only, can't wait to see you!
- I have a food allergy, what do I do? Message me over Meetup, or BYO food.
- I want to help, how can I be involved? For this event, we have all the speaking covered. For a future event, we could use speakers. If you'd like to sponsor the event, reach out, even if it's just about a future event.
- Usually events are free, why charge? We are limited to 40 attendees, food/bev are provided, and we're bringing an international speaker. This is a great deal!
- Can I get a discount? Only by registering early ($25 instead of $40). This is super cheap guys, register ASAP!
- Can I walk in without registering? Nope. Microsoft building strictly requires a full list of attendees' first and last names.
- What if my plans change, can I get a refund? If you un-RSVP before Sept 13, we can refund your payment.
- Is there a waitlist? Nope, we have a limit for attendees so this is smaller than most events. No waitlist.
Content:
We will cover the major componenents of the control plane in Kubernetes, as well as the concept of worker nodes and their role. We'll get hands-on with some examples that you will run in a lab environment:- upgrading Kubernetes components
- backing up etcd
- network policies
- taints and tolerations
- RBACWhile this is not a prep for certification, our speaker has many videos and resources he can share for anyone planning to get certified themselves.
