A shorter hike than our last. More of a forest walk, except for a few sharper inclines. Time and weather permitting, we’ll sit and play some card games on a blanket at the lookout about halfway through the hike.
Total hike should be about 40-45 minutes, so 20-25 minutes until we stop for a game. This is a relatively popular route. Things to keep in mind about the trail itself:
There’s not much loose gravel or soil, but quite a few rocks, some branches, and a few roots along the way. Watch your step and wear appropriate footwear and leg-wear.
I propose heading south on the gravel road path instead of the “west” path suggested by AllTrails, but we could do either. AllTrails’s suggestion leads to a much longer uphill upfront, while heading the southern route saves the uphill for the back quarter. The biggest incline/decline is 65m, but not particularly steep: just long.
There are a few other sharp inclines where the trail momentarily “drops”, but they are pretty short.
Rated “easy” on AllTrails, but that doesn’t include the extra loop at the end.
With the loop at the end, it’s a little over 3km total.
There should be plenty of parking at the entrance to the park, plus pit toilets. I’ll be waiting at the park sign at the trailhead. We’ll head out no later than 5 minutes from the MeetUp start time. Look below for pictures of the MeetUp spot, and a map of the route.
If it’s a drizzle, I’ll still be there but probably won’t play a game midway through the hike. If the weather is pouring it on in the morning, I will cancel, so please check back on the app. Dress warmly! Hope to see you there.
