What we’re about

Welcome to Bay Area Hiking, Walking, Wellness Club!
Where Healthy Living Meets Lifelong Friendships and Love!

Our club is all about embracing a healthy lifestyle, nurturing a positive mindset, and reveling in the beauty of nature. If you're someone who enjoys Green Exercise outdoor workouts, and can hike/walk 5-8 miles without health issues (do consult your personal physician), we invite you to join us.

Here's what makes us special:
*Transformative Events: Our club events bring people together, fostering new friendships and even sparking love stories. The benefits are profound, including better health, reduced stress, and the end of isolation.

*Safety First: Your well-being is our top priority. We strictly follow CDC guidelines and protocols. If you're feeling unwell, we kindly ask you to wait until you're better to join us.
For everyone's safety and convenience, we encourage carpooling among those who know each other well.

*Stunning Locations: We're fortunate living in the bay area to have shaded forests, mountain trails, and beach walks with amazing ocean sunsets nearby. Your suggestions for new areas to explore are always welcome.

*Convenient Scheduling: Enjoy our thoughtfully scheduled events, mostly in the late morning, afternoon, and evenings, to fit your personal schedule. Allowing you to get your beauty sleep, and even your morning 'errands' are merely a stylish sprint to fetch that perfect breakfast or cup of coffee.

*Inclusivity: Whether you're reuniting with old friends or looking to meet new people while exercising outdoors, you'll find a warm and welcoming community here.

**How does nature nurture the brain? **After a 60-minute walk in nature, activity in brain regions involved in stress processing decreases...

Mental health prescription: Nature
Being in nature can boost your mood and improve mental health. Spending quality time in the great outdoors reduces stress, calms anxiety, and can lead to a lower risk of depression, according to a study done by researchers at Stanford University. In addition to having mental health benefits, being outdoors opens up your senses to your surroundings and improves your sensory perception. Taking in the sights, smells, and feelings of nature has so many health benefits it can even be prescribed by a doctor.

Our Club events have a very positive impact on people's lives, people meet, fall in love💘 meet new friends, HAPPY, better health, less stress, anxiety, depression, isolate being alone and got extra bonus for LOVE 💞

*Note: We appreciate your support to keep our club thriving. Your donation/contribution helps cover our costs and enhance our meetups.

A small event fee helps cover organizing costs, including planning, permits, and many other expenses that go into making these events happen. A lot of time and effort goes into researching trails, securing permits, and managing unexpected challenges. Your support helps keep these adventures going—thank you for being part of the journey!

*When you attend our group events, implied consent is assumed for photography. If you prefer not to be photographed, please feel free to let people know.

Join us and be part of a community that not only promotes wellness but also nurtures lifelong friendships and, in some cases, love stories. We look forward to meeting you and making lasting memories together!

🌿 A Friendly Reminder from Your Host 🌿
Hi Everyone!
Just a quick note as we continue enjoying hikes, nature, and meals together as a community. These events are organized voluntarily, with a lot of care and heart — and I'm truly happy to see so many of you return and bring great energy to the group!

💡Please remember: Participation is completely voluntary.

🥾Trails are part of Mother Nature — sometimes rocky, sometimes windy, always full of surprises. 😊

🍲🍜Dinner spots are chosen for convenience and availability. Everyone’s taste is different, so please come with an open mind.

📵Phone service can be unreliable at trailheads, so double-check directions and arrive early if possible.

✨ I kindly ask everyone to bring a positive attitude, patience, and flexibility. Not everything will go perfectly — and that’s okay. What matters most is the shared experience, wellness, fresh air, and kindness to one another.

Thank you for being here and helping create a warm, kind and respectful community🌷
Let’s continue building a respectful and positive space for all 🌿

Yours in good health,
Dr. Heidi Fu, DAOM💝💚

🎄 Christmas Ocean Hike – Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail 🌊🥾
    ✨ Event Description:
If you don’t have big family plans this Christmas, come join us for a peaceful and heartwarming Christmas Ocean Hike by the sea. 🌊💚

We’ll enjoy a refreshing hike along the beautiful Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail, soaking in ocean views, the sound of waves, and the spirit of the season. 🎅🏼🌲 It’s a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas with good company and nature’s beauty.

Let’s make this Christmas simple, joyful, and memorable — outdoors, together, by the sea. 💖🌊✨

Cowell-Purisima Trail, just south of Half Moon Bay, is a 3.6-mile gently graded path that winds along bluffs where farmland meets the Pacific Ocean. It’s a part of the California Coastal Trail, which will one day span the entire length of the state. This area contains both beach and coastal scrub ecosystems. Keep your eyes open for harbor seals, pelicans, hawks and wildflowers along your way.

It's an easy-to-moderate hike with mostly flat, wide, gravel/dirt sections, but has a small section with elevation change as it crosses Purisima Creek. The trail offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean, farmland, and abundant wildlife, with access points at both northern and southern trailheads.

    Trail details
    Length: 7.2 miles roundtrip (3.6 miles one-way)
    Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Surface: Wide, gravel and dirt path
Elevation: Mostly flat, with a short, steep descent into Purisima Creek's canyon
Features: Ocean views, farmland, harbor seals, pelicans, and wildflowers
Season: Year-round, but fall is particularly nice
Wildlife: You can often see harbor seals, brown pelicans, and hawks

This segment of the CA Coastal Trail runs parallel to the Pacific Coast along what used to be the Ocean Shore Railroad. The railroad itself was in operation for just 15 years before it was driven out of business in the early 1920s by the automobile.

It's truly a destination trail. It offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, access to several beaches and excellent nature viewing. Bird watching is quite good and a popular activity here. Red-tailed hawks, blue herons and red-winged blackbirds are spotted frequently, and large hawks can often be seen perched on benches and the trail's split-rail fence. Half Moon Bay State Beach is also home of the world-famous Mavericks, a surfing spot Pillar Point that's visible from the trail.
