We're not just a meetup group; we're your Desi BFFs who know how to spice up life with a bit of chaat masala and a whole lot of swag! Whether you're a Bollywood buff, a samosa connoisseur, or just someone who loves a good ol' chai session, you're about to join the coolest Desi crew in town. From street food adventures to karaoke battles where everyone becomes a singing sensation – we want to do it all! We're all about making memories that even Instagram can't handle! If you have a knack for music, movies, games, swImming, biking, hiking, cooking, dancing, poetry, stand-ups, go on impromptu gedis! You name it, we do it!

History of BADF: I (Aishwarya Arya) created the group purely to socialize as I did not know alot of folks when I moved here in August 2023. The mission and vision behind starting the group was/is/will always be purely to socialize, make life long friends, have crazy time with each other, learn from each other and grow together as individuals.

About the organizers: We are a KRAZZYYY bunch. The organizers are desi working professionals who love to meet people and provide others a platform to do the same. If not us then who!! We love to party "KYUNKI KAL HO NA HOO", discover new hobbies, places and create dher sari memories. Efforts are sexy, time is limited, we are busy ambitious crazy people who are not professional event planners. With only couple hands on deck and 1000+ members to manage, please cut us some slack, provide healthy feedback (we will work on it), support us and nurture the community as we are all one.

Diverse Desi Crew: Whether you're all about dosa drama or living the paratha party life, this is your Desi haven! Our squad is as mixed and spicy as the chaat and chai selection at your beloved hangout. No borders here—North, South, East, West—we're open to all the vibes. Unleash your culture, school us in your lingo, pitch in your movie picks for our watchlist, and spill the beans on your favorite eateries we should conquer together! 🌶️🍛✨

Desi Karaoke: Belt out your favorite Bollywood tunes or try nailing those Punjabi beats – we're all friends here, and off-key is the new perfect.

What we don't serve (MINUS): Stereotypes, age based disparities ("Age is like the calorie number we happily love to ignore when we see samosas!"), societal norms (we love to break em-all HAIYYAAAA! :P), gender and religion based differences. We are all inclusive.

The group doesn’t entertain gossip, bullying or negative comments. Please be certain of the no-tolerance policy around here. The group is not here to counsel, seek advice from (unless you consider someone a close friend and would like to seek advice from) or be a dumping ground for anyones vile intentions. We try to be neutral on our end and believe everyone is here to grow and assume everyone’s best intentions. Again, please be adult and responsible around each other. Your safety is your own responsibility.

In case, admins are not present nor organizing the event (in case of imprmptu get togethers) please assume due responsibility. We cannot help in that case.

If there is any other feedback, let us know privately rather than bringing personal life drama on the group. If admins have enough evidence and deem your presence unsafe, violent or disrespectful on the group, admins will and can take you out of the group and do not owe you any explanation.

Again, admins are working professionals, not trained therapists. Please respect their time that they are spending outside of their own life to organize events, funds that go into organizing, be punctual to events, take RSVPs seriously as their time is on the line too and do not land into their DMs or spam them. We organize events out of our love for people; please do not take our efforts for granted. Maintaining a group this size, takes effort.

Our community of over 2,500 people is founded on a simple, powerful ideal: unconditional diversity and inclusion, where every individual is seen as fundamentally equal. This unity is our strength; the moment we start dividing ourselves is when discord takes root.

If you try to threaten another member, we'll step in faster than a teenager correcting their parents' tech usage. You can yell at the admins all you want- we've developed the collective skin of a rhinoceros wearing chainmail. We do not care. If you choose to be the human equivalent of a spilled drink, the mess is on you, not us. This gorgeous, love-built friendship fortress isn't being knocked down by one grumpy person having a bad day. Our community runs on good vibes and mutual respect, not legal briefs and shouting matches. Please read this before you decide to go rogue.

- Legal Thrillers Are Not Group Activities. We're here to chill, not to battle in court. If you break the rules and we have to give you the boot, threatening to sue the admins is generally frowned upon and will be treated with the seriousness it deserves (i.e., not very much). Follow the rules. It's easier than hiring a lawyer. This is the biggest threat we receive, please be mindful people. You threaten admins, we don't care. You threaten another member whilst disobeying rules, we ban you. We don’t care if you don’t like an admin or don’t see eye to eye on some topics, you don’t have to as long as you maintain a civil presence in the group. Civil Respect is beyond likes and dislikes.

- ****No Vile Vipers Allowed. Stop exchanging venomous comments with fellow members or admins. If you see something that makes your eyebrows climb to your hairline, SCREENSHOT IT like a seasoned detective. Send the evidence to an admin via DM, and we promise to maintain your spy-level anonymity. We'll handle the rest. This Is a Community, Not a Confessional Booth. We get it, life is messy. But please, keep the dramatic, emotionally destabilizing personal upheavals off the main stage. We're here to share, not to host an impromptu intervention.*****

- No Self-Promotion. It’s not for commercial activities. Posts promoting brands will vanish faster than a free slice of pizza at a party. Poof. No warning.

- We Are Admins, Not AI Overlords. We don't have a 24/7 surveillance system on both Meetup and WhatsApp. Things slip! If something smells funny (rules-wise, not literally), DM an admin. Don't assume we see everything, because honestly, sometimes we're just trying to eat a sandwich and work OR have a life!

- Assume Everyone's Best Intentions (Especially When Someone Posts a Weird Meme). When in doubt about a comment, take a deep breath and assume they meant well. Pick your battles wisely and breathe (4 inhale, 7 hold, 8 exhale).

- Your Soapbox Stays at Home. Everyone has opinions, but do not project them onto the group as universal truths. This is a diverse community; not everyone agrees with your stance on pineapple on pizza (or politics, or anything else).

- Keep it Stable, Emotionally and Politically. We're here to live and let live, not to ignite a spontaneous emotional or political firestorm. If you're creating a stressful atmosphere, you're doing it wrong. Be a beacon of calm, not a lightning rod for chaos.

- When you build something genuine, there can be a desire to replicate. If you do so, for the love of creativity, please name it differently. We do view this as validation that we are doing something right. We will continue focusing on our members and maintaining the beautiful, friendship-based group you all love. Our efforts will stay directed inward, toward sustaining this healthy environment. We trust that the value we provide will always speak for itself.
