Welcome to the Redondo Beach Volleyball Group! š We're more than just a sports meetup; we're a community of friendly and passionate volleyball enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned player or a complete beginner, you'll find a warm and welcoming group of members here.
Our mission is simple: to provide a fun and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy the sport of beach volleyball. We meet every Sunday at 2 pm, right by the scenic Ave G and Esplanade in Redondo Beach.
No matter your skill level, you'll find support and camaraderie among our members. We offer basic skills training for beginners and opportunities for experienced players to hone their abilities.

Looking to get into beach volleyball? Or maybe you just started playing and need to get better at passing. Perhaps you played in the past and looking for a way to get back into the sport. Are you an indoor/court player looking to start playing beach? Our Meetup may be just for you!
Every Sunday at 2PM, we teach passing, basic rules, and other beach volleyball skills. After about 90 minutes of training, we start playing gamesā¦ and itās all free! This is also a great way to meet others getting into the sport. Most attendees are their 20s to 30s, but some people are beyond their 40s.
This meetup has been active for over sixteen years and every week we have a few dozen high-beginner and intermediate players returning to play games and improve their skills on other courts.
RSVP INFO: We have instituted the refundable $5 RSVP fee because this is a popular free event and we get a significant amount of people who RSVP and either donāt show up or cancel last minute. Last minute cancelations and no-shows prevent others from joining. If you show up on-time, you will be eligible for a refund. People not eligible for a refund include those who cancel less than 48 hours of the event start, latecomers who miss check-in, and no-shows. RSVP Steps:

- Use Venmo to send $5 per person to https://venmo.com/u/blazingmike (not accepting other forms of payment at this time). Be sure to include your Meetup username & event date during the transfer. Message host Mike with any issues.
Additional info: Free parking in the nearby neighborhood and metered parking on the street along the beach. Please allow extra time to park especially on warm beach days. Bathrooms, water fountains, and outside showers are close. Access the beach from the pedestrian ramp at Avenue G & Esplanade then look for the meetup banner. We're usually on the the left most courts. Ask for Carlos or Mike.
Consider bringing water/drinks, sunscreen, snacks, and layers of clothes in case the temperature and wind changes. On very cool or warm days, consider bringing a pair of socks to keep your feet comfortable. Plan on spending at least two or three hours to enjoy yourself but many play until sunset.

End of Summer Fours tournament (Private Event)
On the Beach at Ave H, Esplanade & Ave H, Redondo Beach, CA, USInformation subject to change. This is a private tournament for regular high-beginner/intermediate Redondo Beach Volleyball Meetup players only; no outside invites allowed. When you RSVP, youāll be placed on the āwaitlistā then added to the āgoingā list once the entrance fee is received. The initial player limit is 32, but may increase.
When: September 27, 2026, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm-ish
Why: Celebrate improved skills, mark the end of summer, raise funds for equipment and cigars, and celebrate the group.
Who: Regular Redondo Beach Volleyball Meetup players only
How:- RSVP individually through Meetup event
- Entrance fee: $10 through Sept. 20 or $20 after Sept. 20
- Pay cash on Sundays (preferred) or Venmo to Mike. No other payment accepted.

Format: On tournament day, each player will be assigned a permanent partner to form a āpairā. Each round, a pair will play with another pair (forming a fours team) and play against two opposing pairs. Winners move up a court, losers move down a court where they play with a different pair. Each round will have a score and time limit. The tournament will have at least 8 rounds of games plus finals. The number and length of games depend on the number of participants. The average game score for each pair determine ranking for finals. Small prizes for winners.
In addition to standard sand rules, the following rules will be in effect:
- No open-hand serve-receive or tips (standard sand rule)
- No open-hand sets over the netā¦ ever.
- Open-hand first contact on a non-driven ball is discouraged and mocked, but not enforced.
Additional info:
- Check-in starts promptly at 12pm. There will be a 10-minute grace period, but late-comers may be noted, mocked, penalized, and/or disqualified.
- Day-of entry may be possible (not guaranteed) on a first-come basis based on available spots, no-shows, and cancellations.
- Refund for cancellation before 9/20/26.
- Tournament will persist through light rain. High winds, heavy rain, or other reasons may cause the tournament to be postponed 2-weeks.
- Attributes of a āRedondo Beach Volleyball Meetupā player include: consistently plays with the high-beginner/intermediate net on Sundays; has attended the 1pm Sunday training session; member of the Meetup WhatsApp group; plays with the group consistently on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays; can easily be named by several other players.
- DO NOT SIGN UP if you cannot play until the end. Players must play all assigned games or will pay to refund their partnerās entrance fee and be banned from the next tournament.
