What we’re about
Welcome to the AMC - Delaware Valley Chapter Meetup Group
The AMC, the Northeast's oldest outdoors club, gets people outdoors for hiking, backpacking, biking, trail maintenance and more. The club also focuses on conservation, outdoors education and camping/cabin accommodations.

Finding AMC Delaware Valley Activities
Only a fraction of DelVal activities are posted on Meetup. To explore all DV activities for hiking, backpacking, biking, trail maintenance and more, click on DV Monthly Activities. A Google calendar view of DV activities will display.
To find outdoors opportunities in NJ, NY, and New England, visit https://activities.outdoors.org/s/? to view all activities of all chapters.
Our Leaders
Our trained activity leaders are experienced outdoors people who volunteer their time and expertise. Their goal: to share fun, friendly and safe outdoors experiences. While safety is their primary concern, participants must also accept risk and responsibility for their own safety.

See all- McKaig Nature Center HikeMcKaig Nature Education Center, Wayne, PA
Join us for some enjoyable exercise: an approximately 2.2-3.5 mile hike on trails at McKaig Nature Center in Wayne, PA. The difficulty level will be moderate, with speeds around 3 to 3.5 mph in the easier sections, and lower in hilly and uneven sections (rocks, tree roots, etc.); total elevation gain will be approximately 350-650 feet. There is not much total elevation gain, but some of the elevation occurs over short distances (meaning: steep but short section). There are plenty of flatter and downhill sections. We will stop periodically, especially at the tops of hills if some go up faster than others, so that we all continue on the same hike.
Meet in the Roberts Elementary School parking lot (next to McKaig Nature Center) at the above address. GPS coordinates: 40.0750, -75.3861
This hike will serve as Kyle’s 2nd co-lead in the process to become an AMC hike leader.
Bring water, clothing appropriate for the weather (layers work well), sturdy footwear (hiking shoes or boots work well), and a smile. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a 6’ or shorter leash as required by the park.
If the hike is canceled, such as due to weather, we plan to announce this at least two hours in advance.
AMC is a non-profit organization and the hike leaders are volunteers. All participants will need to sign the AMC liability release agreement (click here to review it in advance). Alternatively, you can register on the AMC website and sign the agreement in advance there. The AMC website also shows many other AMC events that might interest you.
AMC is an outdoor recreation and conservation organization that, among other things, helps maintain the hiking trails we use in Valley Forge and many other parks. Non-members are welcome on this hike, but membership is inexpensive and supports the great work AMC does (click here to learn more).
Please note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.
