What we’re about
Thanks for being a part of our Meetup group, and AMC Boston 20s and 30s. For those of you who are new, this email is to give some basic information about how you can get more involved with us and get on even more trips (our other websites have more trip postings than you’ll find here on Meetup!)
AMC Boston 20's and 30's is a group of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), dedicated to encouraging people in their 20s and 30s to get involved in the AMC and enjoy the outdoors.
With many volunteer leaders and co-leaders, we offer a variety of activities and events (both online and in-person). You may find us leading day hikes, backpacking, social events, local walks, trail maintenance, conservation work, kayaking, mountain biking, bicycling, skiing, camping, ice skating, and other activities. We sponsor trips throughout the year, most of which involve exploring different regions of New England. Check out some photos of our activities here!
If you want to be kept up to date with even more of our events, be sure to check the official postings at activities.outdoors.org. We do cross post some events to meetup but you have to register via the link in the description (signing up on Meetup does not approve you for the trip).
There are other ways to stay engaged with us.
Outdoors Postings: activities.outdoors.org is the official site for all AMC trip postings (everything gets posted here first). This link filters the 20s and 30s committee trips.
AMC 20s-30s Activity Notifications Google Group: Our mailing list where you get notified of events happening soon that still have open spaces. This is one of our primary contact channels. And feel free to check out past events and the photos there.

Join AMC Boston 20s & 30s for the second weekend of the annual Three Mile Island (TMI) trip on September 19-21!
What is Three Mile Island? AMC’s Three Mile Island (TMI) is set up as a rest and relaxation camp. Built on a tradition of simplicity, participants enjoy canoeing, kayaking, relaxing in their cabins, and playing games! Situated on an island of 43 rocky woodland acres, TMI on Lake Winnipesaukee offers a delightful recreational experience in the heart of New Hampshire's lake district. Sleeping consists of quaint 2-person cabins right on the water’s edge. Wake up to the sounds of loons and beautiful sunrises! Most meals are provided and are served family style in a warm, social atmosphere. It's a great opportunity to escape modern stresses. Campers agree to leave electronic devices in their cabins, freeing themselves to enjoy nature, good food, and great company.
For more information, read through the FAQs , check out the Three Mile Island website , and get ready to sign up!
Important Information about Registration and FAQs Three Mile Island is one of AMC 20s & 30s most popular trips (last year’s trip sold out in under 15 minutes!). In order to accommodate the high demand, AMC is hosting two weekends (September 5-7 and September 19-21) with attendees being determined through a randomly-generated lottery system. The second trip (this one!) will have at least 26 priority spots for AMC members and up to 10 spots for non-members.
When can I sign up for the September 19-21 trip? Signup for the lottery opens on Monday, July 28 at 12pm EST and closes on Tuesday, July 29 at 12pm EST . Those who sign up during this time will be added to the registration lottery. We'll notify participants who have been randomly selected by email.
In addition to signing up through Outdoors Connector, please also fill out this Google Form with your AMC member number, if you have one: TMI Second Weekend Form AMC members will have priority registration for at least the first 26 spots. The remaining 10 spots will be assigned to members or non-members based on randomized lottery order.
I’ve been notified that I'm on the trip - what happens now? Congrats! The TMI leadership team will reach out with a PayPal link so you can officially pay for the trip. Please pay as soon as possible ( within 48 hours of notification ) as this will guarantee your spot on the trip. In cases where we do not hear back from you, we may move on to the next person on the waitlist. We will be checking member IDs and proof of purchase (PayPal receipts) before confirming participants for the trip.
How much does the trip cost? Trip costs are $260.07 per person for AMC members and $291.15 per person for non-members . This includes lodging, ferries (to and from island), boat use, meals (Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch), and campfire snacks.
I am not an AMC member yet, how can I join? AMC membership is open to all and helps promote AMC’s mission to “foster the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the outdoors”! Your membership works to directly support land protection and conservation, trail maintenance, outdoors education and programming, environmental monitoring and more. Members also receive discounts on outdoors trips, AMC huts and lodges, and gear from the AMC Store. Annual membership is $25 for those under age 30, and $50 for individuals. More information is included here .Reminder: Please click the RSVP link above to register!
