About us
This group is designed to bring people of all ages and abilities together to have adventures, outdoors and indoors. Our event organizers post meetups to enjoy what Oklahoma and surrounding states have to offer. Events will range from outdoor adventures including hiking, camping, and biking and indoor adventures such as dinners and museums, as well as other unique events as they come up.
Note: By RSVP'ing to meetups, you acknowledge that event hosts are volunteers, you are responsible for yourself and your actions, and the group will not be held liable for potential injuries. I want to make sure this group is a fun and safe environment for everyone but there are inherent risks associated with outdoor activities. Happy adventuring!

Devil's Den Camping Trip
Location not specified yetWho's ready for an awesome Fall colors trip to the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas? Be sure and make your reservations quickly because almost all the primitive campsites at Devil's Den State Park are booked for the final weekend in October. Primitive sites 6, 8 and 10 are still open. A bunch of sites with electric plug ins are available at the equestrian campground for $33 a night. I have primitive site 2, and I'll let two other tents and two other cars on my site. If you want to camp on my site, let me know; first come, first served. The booking system with Devil's Den is a bit funky, so make sure your check-in date is October 30th and your check-out date is November 1st when booking. All cabins within the park are booked for the final weekend in October. However, there is a selection of VRBO and Air B&B cabins about 5-10 miles from the park. I've included links to those as well. Devil's Den State Park is only 3 hours and 15 minutes away from OKC, so this will make for a great Fall colors camping trip. The trip itinerary is below the links for campsite and cabin reservations.

Friday, October 30th:
-For those who have the day off on Friday, we'll be hiking the Fossil Flats Trail, which is 2.7 miles, and the Moonshiners Cave Trail, which is 0.8 miles. We'll meet at the trailhead of the Fossil Flats Trail at 2:30 p.m. We will head directly over to the Moonshiners Cave Trail after hiking the Fossil Flats Trail.
*Fossil Flats Trailhead Coordinates: 35.78383534114643, -94.24397930561142 (You can copy and paste all coordinates into your Google Maps or GPS, and it will take you directly to each trailhead/destination.)
*Moonshiners Cave Trail Parking Lot Coordinates: 35.78062758238671, -94.23652803137503-After Friday's hikes, we'll meet at the CCC Scenic Overlook Pavilion to watch the sunset at 6:15 p.m. Here are the coordinates for the parking lot to the CCC Scenic Overlook Pavilion: 35.779770427892124, -94.25713893218261
-To wrap up Friday, we'll meet at my campsite for a campfire at 7:30 p.m. I am located at primitive site 2. The best place to park would be the parking area for the Yellow Rock Trail, which is only a couple hundred yards from my campsite. Once you park at the Yellow Rock Trail, walk east toward the campsite loop, take the right fork on the loop, and my campsite will then be the first one on your left.

*These next coordinates should be about near where my campsite is: 35.78298103478568, -94.2450502909992Saturday, October 31st:
-We'll meet at the Yellow Rock Trailhead at 9 a.m. before hiking the Yellow Rock Trail, which is 3.2 miles. This hike offers some incredibly gorgeous scenery and overlooks of the surrounding Ozark Mountains. It ought to be especially beautiful with the Fall foliage. After that, we'll drive to and hike the Devil's Racetrack Loop, which is 1.3 miles. After that, we'll break for lunch, and I'll probably check out the visitor's center if time permits, so you all are welcome to join me in that exploration.
*Yellow Rock Trailhead Coordinates: 35.78209690424989, -94.24702837966397
*Devil's Racetrack Loop Trailhead Coordinates: 35.78434406262315, -94.24515122889709-We will reconvene at 2:30 p.m. at the Devil's Den Trail, which is 1.1 miles. This trail is the namesake and crown jewel of the park. It has some incredibly beautiful grotto rock formations, cave crevasses and waterfalls. After that, we will drive to and hike the Butterfield Lake Trail, which is 0.6 miles. The rock dam at Butterfield Lake with the Fall foliage is what I used for this event's picture FYI. Once we're done hiking, we'll have dinner at around 5 p.m. at the Ridgerunner Cafe, which is inside the park near the visitor's center. However, it appears that they're open seasonally, and I can't find any good information on when their restaurant season ends or what their hours are, so if they're closed when we get there, we can eat at some picnic tables that are right next to the Devil's Den swimming pool and Butterfield Lake, which are both right next to Ridgerunner Cafe. FYI, make sure you bring some food with you for dinner as a backup plan in case Ridgerunner Cafe is closed.
*Devil's Den Trail Parking Lot Coordinates: 35.78130559703271, -94.24976057740199

*Ridgerunner Cafe Parking Coordinates: 35.77922281686168, -94.25224415053529-After dinner, we will once again meet at the CCC Scenic Overlook Pavilion at 6:15 p.m. to watch the sunset. We will the end the night by having a campfire at my campsite at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, November 1st
-Great, the end of Daylight Savings. I can't wait for it to start getting dark at 5:30 p.m. 😒Anyway, let's ignore that and focus on the positives ... The last day of hiking at Devil's Den Sate Park! We will meet at the middle section of the Devil's Racetrack Tail at 10 a.m. This trail is bisected by Arkansas Highway 170 with a northern portion and a southern portion on either side of the road. We will park our cars in a small gravel parking area on the side of said road. Remember, we're meeting at the Devil's Racetrack TRAIL not the Devil's Racetrack LOOP. First, we will hike the northern portion of the Devil's Racetrack Trail, which is 2.9 miles. Next, we will hike the southern portion of the Devil's Racetrack Trail, which is 2.6 miles. After that, we will say our goodbyes and head home.
*Devil's Racetrack Trail Parking Area Coordinates: 35.77745778306323, -94.25516636314474As a quick side note, remember that these hikes will be taking place in the Ozark Mountains, so there will be some tough hiking with a good amount of elevation gain.
