About us
Meet others interested in meditation near you! Learn how to meditate or deepen your current meditation practice. Our weekly meetings are on a drop in basis and we have a really nice group of people attending regularly. Please check out our message board to see our meditation topics in previous weeks.
A trademark of the meditations we emphasize is the ease in which they can be used both “on the cushion” and in our daily lives. Each meeting will include practical, guided meditation, and a talk on how to reduce stress and other problems encountered in daily life and how to increase mental and physical well-being. There will also be plenty of time to discuss the ideas presented.
Although the meditations and talks are based on Kadampa Buddhist philosophy, you don't need to be a Buddhist to enjoy this group. Kadampa Buddhism stresses a spiritual path of individual transformation and to look within ourselves for the inner peace and happiness we seek. Everyone is welcome!
These group meetings are based out of Kadampa Meditation Center New York, located in Glen Spey, NY. For more information visit http://www.kadampanewyork.org
We hope to meet you soon!

Buddhist Meditation Class - Topic: Protecting Your Peace
Sparta Ambulance Building, 14 Sparta Ave N, Sparta Township, NJ, USCurrent Series: Love is Stronger than Anger
Tonight's topic: Protecting Your PeaceWe all know how quickly anger can take hold: a sharp word at home, a frustration at work, a grudge we carry for years. Yet anger is never who we really are. Beneath every irritation lies a far greater capacity for love, kindness, and compassion, and anyone can awaken it. Love is not soft or passive. It is the strongest force in our mind, able to heal our relationships, protect our peace, and bring out the best in ourselves and others. It steadies us too. When our heart turns towards other people's happiness, anxious thoughts about ourselves begin to lose their grip.
Most of us have tried to be more patient, only to find the old reactions coming back the next time someone gets under our skin. This course isn't about gritting your teeth. It offers down-to-earth ways of working with the mind that you can use anywhere, whether you're stuck in traffic, sitting at the dinner table, or halfway through a difficult conversation. A little practice each day begins to change how we meet people, and others notice. The atmosphere at home softens, worry loosens its hold, and we find we have more to give. Being at peace with the world, and being good for it, turns out to begin with something we already have.
