About us
Rocky Mountain Cycling Club is a Colorado community of cyclists who share a love for adventurous, challenging rides. We offer a year-round series of club rides and events and support each other as we pursue our cycling goals. RMCC formed in the fall of 1993.

RMCC Thursday Night Climbing—Sunset Series

Join us for the RMCC tradition: Thursday night climbing!
We meet at Beverly Heights Park, at the base of Lookout. We'll group up at about 5:25pm for introductions, route overview, sign-in, and other formalities. We plan to roll promptly at 5:30; if you're going to be late, please leave a message here (we'll try to wait a few minutes, if necessary).
We'll follow our usual route (see below) to start the spring, and we'll add in climbs (Genesee Mountain, Montane, Lininger, and more) depending on available daylight, weather, and road conditions. Changes will largely be a game-time decision, covered in the route walk-through and potentially adjusted as we progress.

As is the nature of rides with climbing, this is a drop/regroup ride. Because we aim to get in a lot of climbing in a short period of time, we have been known to drop riders, especially on the first climb. Generally speaking, if you're able to complete Lookout solo in ~30 minutes you'll be able to rejoin at the regroup points. We will roll from the parking area by Buffalo Bill's grave at 6:00, and lagging riders may be left behind. For you Zwifters and power-meter users, a power output of 3 w/kg is a good starting point. Expect some separation on the climbs, with opportunities to rejoin at one of several regroup points. Being comfortable in a draft will help on some of the flatter / roller sections.
As the days are getting shorter, it’s really important that everyone come to the ride with lights (both to be seen by and to see with). Any delay in the ride can mean that we’re descending during dusk. Front lights are also important for safety around corners, so bring the white lights, too!
This event will be canceled if weather or roadways are not conducive for a safe, fun ride. We'll cancel as early as possible, however be prepared for game-time calls as conditions can be unpredictable in the foothills.

RMCC Golden Fall Road Ride
Beverly Heights Park, 2151 Lookout Mountain Rd, Golden, CO, USUpdate 9/29: Saturday looks like another nice one, so let's do the popular Lookout-Saddleback-Grapevine Loop! This scenic route is 51 miles with 6300 feet of climbing. This ride will start out of Beverly Heights Park at the base of Lookout at 8:45 with wheels turning by 9:00.

It's fall in Colorado which means that there is still plenty of great riding to be done! We are having weekly climbing [usually] rides out of various locations until snow and cold puts a stop to it! This ride will start out of Beverly Heights Park at the base of Lookout at 8:45 for a 9:00 departure.
These rides will generally be in the range of 40-60 miles--longer if it's warm; shorter if it's chilly. Expect some good climbing, some roads you haven't ridden before, maybe an occasional stretch of gravel road, and a guarantee of great people. Like all RMCC rides, we do regroup periodically but these should be considered drop rides.
That actual route will be posted the week of the ride once we have a sense of what weather and road conditions will be like. Weather may lead to a start time change, the ride being moved to Sunday, or cancellation--if you think you want to do the ride, please RSVP so you are notified of any changes.

Hygiene Elementary School, 11968 N. 75th, Longmont, CO, USIn the fall we continue our pattern rides mostly rotating between Golden, Ken Caryl, and Boulder County. We'll climb and do longer (e.g. 60+ miles) rides if weather permits or do less-long rides (e.g. 50 miles) at lower elevations when it's cooler.
For this ride we'll meet at Hygiene Elementary School at 8:45 for a 9:00 departure. We will post the route several days before the ride once we have a handle on what the weather is looking like.
Like all RMCC rides, we will regroup periodically, but this should still be considered a drop ride.
