RMCC Thursday Night Climbing
Beverly Heights Park, 2151 Lookout Mountain Rd, Golden, CO, USThursday, Thursday, RMCC Climbing Thursday!
Join us for the RMCC tradition: Thursday night climbing!
We meet at Beverly Heights Park, at the base of Lookout. We'll group up at about 5:25pm for introductions, route overview, sign-in, and other formalities. We plan to roll promptly at 5:30; if you're going to be late, please leave a message here (we'll try to wait a few minutes, if necessary).
We'll follow our usual route (see below) to start the spring, and we'll add in climbs (Genesee Mountain, Montane, Lininger, and more) depending on available daylight, weather, and road conditions. Changes will largely be a game-time decision, covered in the route walk-through and potentially adjusted as we progress.

As is the nature of rides with climbing, this is a drop/regroup ride. Because we aim to get in a lot of climbing in a short period of time, we have been known to drop riders, especially on the first climb. Generally speaking, if you're able to complete Lookout solo in ~30 minutes you'll be able to rejoin at the regroup points. We will roll from the parking area by Buffalo Bill's grave at 6:00, and lagging riders may be left behind. For you Zwifters and power-meter users, a power output of 3 w/kg is a good starting point. Expect some separation on the climbs, with opportunities to rejoin at one of several regroup points. Being comfortable in a draft will help on some of the flatter / roller sections.
This event will be canceled if weather or roadways are not conducive for a safe, fun ride. We'll cancel as early as possible, however be prepared for game-time calls as conditions can be unpredictable in the foothills.
In the springtime, please bring and use lights!
We hope to see you out there!1 attendee
Boulder - Super James - Meeker Park Loop
East Boulder Dog Park, 5660 Sioux Drive, Boulder, CO, USLet's start the holiday weekend with a good ride! We'll meet at the East Boulder Community Center (south lot) at 7:45 for an 8:00 departure. After some flat roads to start, we'll first climb Lee Hill and then follow that up with Super Jamestown. We'll then head up to the Peak-to-Peak Highway and head north to Meeker Park. We'll then return to Lyons via St. Vrain Canyon and then ride the flat roads back to Boulder.
This is a very diverse route with some flat roads, some gentle climbs and some quite steep sections. The full route is 83 miles with 7400 feet of vertical. If you want something a little shorter, you can cut it back to 67 miles by skipping the spur out to Meeker. Note that there is just over 2 miles of dirt from the top of Super James to the Peak-to-Peak. It's very rideable on standard road tires and is also super scenic.

Our regroup points will be:
Mile 19: Jamestown Park (water stop)
Mile 38: Meeker Park Lodge
Mile 61: Sinclair in Lyons (or we can just stop at the Visitors' Center for water if people prefer that)Like all RMCC rides, we will regroup periodically at the formal regroup points and at other times; but this should still be considered a drop ride.
Non-dues-paying members are welcome and invited to join us on any ride! After three rides we do ask that you join the club: https://www.rockymountaincyclingclub.com/rmcc-membership-application-form
