August's book was suggested by Kristen and accepted in June's book club.
A Midwife's Tale - The Life of Martha Ballard, Based on Her Diary, 1785-1812 - the author has a ton of academic experience, Harvard professor, MacArthur fellowship. As the subtitle says, this seems to be a straight presentation of the subjects life from their own primary source. Severe shortage at IndyPL - good luck finding it. 379 pages.
Kristen had a really good pitch for it - it's a primary source from a professional woman in the late 18th century; very interested in what she has to say.
Interested in suggesting a book? Bring it up to me at a meeting (or after by Meetup messages) and we can talk about it, if it sounds like it will fit I will add it to the list to be voted on by the group. There are some genre, content and page length restrictions but we're down to give most things a shot.
