What we’re about
Our Mission: To educate and inform San Diegans about the benefits of eating a whole-food plant-based diet for optimal nutrition and health, environmental sustainability, compassion and mindfulness. We rally our community around the unifying concept of adopting a whole-food plant-based diet. We work with groups and provide support for individuals in transitioning to and/or maintaining a plant-based, animal-free diet and being conscientious stewards of the environment.
We schedule events to simply get together to learn, eat, and socialize. Please join this meet up if you want to learn about being part of the team and/or just coming to our fun events! To get in on the discussion, please "like" our page on Facebook, PlantDiego and we have a team leadership group on Facebook "PlantDiego Leadership Team."
PlantDiego plans large community events (like our Gratitude Food Fest just before Thanksgiving) and screenings of documentaries- PlantPure Nation, Cowspiracy, Forks over Knives for example), presentations by local experts, fundraisers, regular PlantDiego fun events (potlucks, meetings, visits to vegan restaurants, picnics, beach days), and community activism to get the word out about healthy plant-based diets.
This group is is a PlantPure Pod, and a member of the nation-wide network of groups formed on the heals of PlantPure Nation - a ground breaking film and nationwide organization about the power of plant-based eating and the politics we struggle against to get the word out! Checkout the national PlantPure Pods website for more information and please register as a Pod Member there, and to receive their monthly newsletter!
Please visit our local website and join our e-mail contact list and get our monthly informative newsletter with lots of great local features around plant-based eating and nutrition and info by clicking "Join Us" on http://plantdiego.com. Questions? Please e-mail us at plantdiego@gmail.com.
Regular events/potlucks will occur every month (unless it's a holiday). Please bring a Whole Food Plant Based (no animal products, minimal oil and processed products) dish, serving utensils and your own plate, bowl and utensils. Also bring something to drink if you like. Please being at least $1 per event towards meet up fees and other expenses. We also need contributions to keep this organization going! Thanks!
We are an active group! We hope to see you soon!

- DINE OUT at PURPLE MINTThe Purple Mint, San Diego , CA
It's time to visit Purple Mint at their new location on El Cajon Blvd!
We'll get there early, at opening. Make a 1/2 day of it! Head there after Nina's Walking Dumbbell Workout, if you'd like!
The Purple Mint Vegan Restaurant San Diego brings healthy eating and traditional culture to a crossroads. Our restaurants serve vegan dishes fused with classical recipes that present an unparalleled twist on authentic Asian cuisine.
Purple Mint is a small family-owned restaurant that molds the menu to reflect healthy eating, healthy living, and to promote a vegan lifestyle. The restaurant offers a diverse menu ranging from varied beverages and savory entrées to sweet desserts baked fresh daily. Each entrée is made from all-natural, fresh ingredients that yield overall excellence in food quality.
These Asian inspired cuisines look similar to their non-vegan counterparts allowing for a healthy, meatless meal without sacrificing much of the taste. Menu items such as the Crispy Egg Rolls, Lemon Grass Chicken, and Yam & Sweet Potato Curry are 100% vegan and made from meatless strips and soy protein. All of the fusion styles inspired entrées, dishes, and recipes are ultimately created and served with the diner's health and body in mind.
This is great opportunity to connect with other like-minded folks, and be sure to bring your friends, but do keep your RSVP up-to-date so we'll know how many seats to set aside and what to tell the restaurant.
- Spirituality for Animal Advocates & VegansLink visible for attendees
Amidst global human suffering, environmental ecocide, and industrialized abuse of animals, there comes a call for compassionate action. The Compassion Consortium is a spiritual community created to serve the needs of vegans, vegetarians, animal rights activists, and others who care about and advocate for animals and the planet.
The non-sectarian monthly service features interfaith reflection, music, meditation, and a conversation with a special guest. It's open to all sentient beings of any spiritual tradition.
The program is monthly on the third Sunday of each month at 3 pm Central / 4 pm Eastern. Attendance at Compassion Consortium events is always free of charge, but registration is required: https://www.compassionconsortium.org/sunday-service. Hope you can make it.
