What we’re about
We will have a lot of hikes in Middle Tennessee. However we will also do a lot of hiking in the Cumberland Plateau and Cumberland Mountains which are between Nashville and Knoxville and between Nashville and Chattanooga. Most of these hikes will be long day trips but are very awarding hikes.
We will also offer longer hikes that involve overnights. These hikes are from anywhere from the Smoky Mountains to the Rocky Mountains or anywhere there are good hikes that the group would like to hike.
In addition to hiking we will be open to all kinds of outdoor activities from kayaking, biking, horseback riding, sitting around a fire, camping, caving, having a picnic, listening to live music outside, rock climbing or pretty much anything that is outdoors.
We may also have some social activities as well such as dinners or other activities that will help us all get to know each other.
We are always looking for people who are will to host meetups and I am always willing to help you organize your first few meetup events so let me know if you would like to be an Event Organizer

Program Leader: Ranger LeslieFew parks have more rare wildflowers than Long Hunter State Park, and most of these unusual plants are found in the wild and rugged cedar glades. The desert-like glades are a wonderland of wildflowers, and the Jones Mill Trail and Bryant Grove Trail feature an array of spring blooms, including some species found nowhere else in the world. Join Ranger Leslie as we search for and ID some unusual glade species, including Nashville Breadroot, Eastern Prickly Pear and Tennessee Milk Vetch.
We'll meet at the Jones Mill Trail parking lot on Barnett Road and hike a mile or two along this beautiful, winding trail. Then if we're not too tired, we'll next explore the Bryant Grove Trail for another mile of hiking and also check out the roadsides along the way.
We will be hiking for approximately 3 hours, so please bring plenty of water to stay hydrated and your choice of bug repellent.
No pets, please.
Note: I've posted this hike here to give Meetup members first dibs, but the hike is limited to the first 12 people who sign up and pay on the park website. Once the hike is full, the park website will not allow anymore signups.
