Fri, May 29 · 10:00 AM JST
An intermediate day hike with some undulating terrain and spectacular views and including a visit to the Nunobiki Waterfalls and Kobe Herb Garden (¥200 entrance fee).
Meet at the Shin Kobe Shinkansen station ground floor (where the buses stop) at 10:00 a.m.
First we'll be hiking up to the Kobe Herb Garden via the impressive Nunobiki Waterfalls.
At the Herb Garden, we'll have a short rest, to enjoy the flowers and spectacular views over Kobe, before continuing on our hike.
Anyone wanting to spend longer at the Herb Garden, or not wanting to hike up there, can take the cable car (¥1,400) and meet us at the Herb Garden at 11:00. From there we'll follow a ridge trail through trees for about 90 minutes to the summit of Mt Maya (700m).
Mt Maya has spectacular views across the Osaka Bay to Osaka, Wakayama, Awaji shima and beyond, so a great place for a long lunch break.
There are various options for our descent, so depending on the time, weather and wishes of the participants, we'll select the best way to hike down (approx 2 hours) to one of the three three main railway lines: Hankyu, JR or Hanshin in the Rokko area.
Please wear hiking clothing and hiking shoes/boots and carry rain gear in case of showers.
Bring your own lunch, at least 2 litres of drinking water, snacks, groundsheet, hat, sunscreen and hiking poles (optional).
It is essential to register on MeetUp by midnight on Wed. 27th May if you would like to participate in this event.
IOC Kansai members who have already paid the ¥3,000 annual fee, do not need to pay the participation fee (¥1,000) for this event.
This event will be postponed in the event of a high probability of rain, so please check the MeetUp site for messages.
Thank you!
