About us
Situated in the multicultural, heritage suburb of Croydon in Sydney's inner west, our activities link ancient wisdom with contemporary society.
Through spiritual talks and discussion exploring the mystical, practical teachings of many faiths; through silent and guided meditations; yoga classes; retreats; festivals; theatre; and more - we provide an open-minded, reflective and creative space.
All activities are held in our renovated century-old building; comfortable, peaceful and spacious with soaring ceilings.
In keeping with our Indian/ Asian ambience shoes are left at the door. Disabled access provided.
Talks are given by Pravrajika Gayatriprana and Pravrajika Sridharaprana, senior nuns of Sri Sarada Math, the women’s wing of the Ramakrishna Order. Sri Sarada Math’s first centre outside India was established in Sydney in 1982.
The Ramakrishna Order was established in 1897 by Swami Vivekananda, one of the first to bring meditation and yoga philosophy to the West. He represented Hinduism at the first World Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893. Since its inception the Ramakrishna Order has served millions through its relief and rehabilitation work and many schools and hospitals.

ANNOUNCING OUR SECOND SHOW ON MONDAY, 14 SEPTEMBER
IN CELEBRATION of the Birth Centenary of Revered Pravrajika Ajayaprana Mataji, we have hired the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood for a very special program of live music, dance and a play.The play, ‘Universal Heart’, highlights how Holy Mother, Sri Sarada Devi, a simple village woman, inspired three powerful Western Women and others - followers of Swami Vivekananda - to expand the educational and occupational opportunities for women in India, also culminating in the formation of the Sri Sarada Math Order of Nuns, the first Order of its type entirely run by women. Rev. Ajayaprana established the Order’s first foreign Centre in Sydney in 1982.
It's a play whose messages resonate in today’s society, addressing the universal and timeless issues of seeking balance and fulfilment in our lives.

Discussion Themes:
- LONG AGO, the sages of the East had already made a deep psychological study of the human mind, aided by the unveiling, focused gaze of meditation. The subtlest origins of thoughts, feelings, and tendencies were revealed.
- THE GITA recognises the variety of the human condition: the innate disposition of each evolving human being; the various types of minds shaped by past experiences and actions; and the impact of life in general on each. However much we’ve been moulded or restricted by these, we can always change.
- A KEY WORD in the rich and deeply meaningful language of Sanskrit is Shraddha. A word with no direct English translation but containing so much meaning. Shraddha’s represents deep heart-centred faith, trust and confidence, and so much more.
