FREE Outdoor Trips From London

Despite its starting point being within London Travelcard Zone 6, this is a completely rural walk, passing through a succession of lovely open fields & countryside. After lunch we will pass Downe House, the home of Charles Darwin, the naturalist.

This is a moderate walk with hills, and might feel more strenuous due to the high number of styles to cross, therefore is not suitable for beginner hikers. As the group size will be limited to 50 please only rsvp if you definitely plan to attend. Buy tickets on the day.

Due to the short days during the winter, we will have to keep to a brisk pace of upto 3mph in order to complete the walk before dark, please ensure you're ok with this.

Walk starts at 09:50 at knockholt Station. Walk ends around 4pm at knockholt railway Station. Get the 08:57 train from London Victoria to knockholt arr. 09.50. I will get the train from Brixton so will meet you at knockholt station.

Buy a return to knockholt £11 with railcard or groupsave or use oyster card. Bring a packed lunch. Pub stop for lunch. A chance to reflect on achievements over the past year, and look forward to more adventures in the coming year. Keep your fingers crossed for a Hiker Award - the recipient could be you!

Along the way there's a visit to the viewpoint of Galley Hill and the walk ends at the party, so for anyone wishing to attend the walk only that's an option.

TRAVEL & 11 miles WALK DETAILS:
The 10.28 AM train from Liverpool Street arrives at ROYDON at 10.57. An off peak day single to ROYDON which is £6.30 with Groupsave or Network Card.

Walk start from Roydon station at 11 AM. The walk ends at 4pm near ENFIELD LOCK station which is in Zone 6 so Oyster & Contactless will cover your journey home. Bring a packed lunch.

EXTRA 2 MILES WALK
The organizer will be doing a 2 miles warm up before the hike on his arrival at 10.13. If you'd like to join in the 9.28 AM train to Roydon from Liverpool Street will arrive in time.
