What we’re about
Welcome to Escape London City Explorers a walking and social group aiming at doing a range of guided walks and social trips to cities outside of London from London and guided walks and hikes within London.
The idea is to do a short country hike or city urban walk exploring cities or towns fairly close to London such as Oxford, Brighton, Portsmouth or Stratford-upon-Avon.
Transport will be either by train or coach, the group is twined with two other groups London Explorers (London walks & hikes) and Chiltern Explorers (countryside hikes within the Chilterns and further afield).
We are enthusiastic about photography and encourage photographs walking at a leisurely pace but also sometimes with harder faster and longer walks.
IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT WORLD HEALTH CRISIS I AM HOSTING SOME LIVE VIDEO EVENTS ON LONDON EXPLORERS & CHILTERN EXPLORERS MEETUP GROUPS.

Beaconsfield, Forty Green & an Ancient Pub – Country Hike
London Marylebone Station, Marylebone Station, NW1 6JJ, London, GBWalk length 10miles/16km approx. Circular.
A great scenic walk from Beaconsfield towards Forty Green using open fields and woodland to the Royal Standard at Forty Green.
The walk uses parts of the Chiltern Way, a circular walking route of 214 km (134 miles) across the Chilterns.
We will go for a short drink close to the end of the walk at The Royal Standard of England, reported to be the oldest free house in England, with a history spanning over 900 years. It was supposedly used by King Charles the I in the English Civil War. It is not surprisingly haunted by a number of ghosts..
The Royal Standard of England, Forty Green Road, Forty Green, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1XS.
At the end of the walk we can also visit a newly opened and very classy pub close to the railway station.
Please bring a snack lunch and water for the walk. The walk will finish around about 4.30pm, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace and the pub stop.
£7 cash payable on the day guided walk & meetup costs. You can do paypal (colin45@hotmail.co.uk) please use friends and family with paypal to avoid charges. Bank transfer if you prefer, please contact the organizer.
