About us
35+ On The Town is a group for grown ups to have some fun, social times. We focus on dinner/drinks, festivals, excursions, game nights, movie nights, museums, crafting, tastings, read 'n' watch discussions, tea rooms, and fun stuff around town. Maybe a little nerdy stuff here and there. Our events are typically in Hillsborough or Pinellas counties, with ones in Pasco occasionally, and we try to spread the locations around, so the drive isn't burdensome for the same people repeatedly.
We are a no-drama group and expect people to be respectful and considerate of others. All backgrounds are welcome.
Please RSVP to events considerately. If you realize you can't attend, please change your RSVP with plenty of time, so those on the waitlist can join. Due to a lot of last minute drops and No Shows, we have changed our approach to posting our evening dinners and many other events. Dinners now will only be posted about a week in advance, and RSVPs will close the day prior to an event.
We do our best to remind people to make sure they're available and to let them know when they've made it off the waitlist and into the event, on top of the notifications the Meetup platform always sends. So, No Shows with no notification of an emergency will be removed from the group. Also, because we close RSVPs the day before most events, backouts on the same day as the event are considered No-Shows. Please just be responsible and considerate with your RSVPs. We give you plenty of notice.
We have a very fun, annual, holiday party with a white elephant gift exchange in Dec. Members who have attended at least 2 events during a given year will have priority in attending.
Just come, be yourself, respect others, and have fun.

đ Deeper Conversations: What They Didnât Teach Us in School
Palihouse, 1509 W. Swann Ave, Tampa, FL, USAs kids go back to school, letâs gather to share the important or interesting things you've discovered they didnât teach us in school, but every adult should know!
âDeeper Conversationsâ is a monthly event series where we meet in a semi-quiet space to discuss a meaningful topic that doesn't usually come up in daily life. These events are a staple for several members, so don't wait to RSVP! Each month's theme will be matched to that time of year whenever possibleâŚ
August's Theme: What They Didnât Teach Us in School
Whether it's a life skill you had to learn the hard way, a paradigm-shifting scientific discovery after you graduated, or a key piece of history left out of your textbooksâ letâs exchange that missing knowledge, catch up on new discoveries, and reflect on how much our understanding of the world has changed from what we were taught in school.Example questions include: "Tell us something you've learned about human health, medicine, or the body that you wish youâd known when you were 18" AND "Whatâs an idea that used to be considered 'fringe' or 'conspiracy' when you were a kid, but has since been proven or widely accepted as true?"
How It Works: I will bring a curated list of conversation starter questions that have been vetted to be non-political and non-religious, while sparking meaningful, uplifting, or intellectual conversations. They will be roughly sequenced from lighter to deeper questions, so we can get to know each other before diving deep.
VENUE
Palihouse has a hidden cocktail bar inside of a boutique hotel decorated in a cozy, old fashioned style. They serve bar snacks, cocktails, wine, and beer, which you can preview on their menu. There is a parking lot behind Palihouse with a back door that opens straight into their ground floor. It's in the Hyde Park shopping plaza, so there are many restaurants within walking distance if you want to eat dinner first.IMPORTANT: As usual, RSVPs close 25 hours before the event, so please make any changes before then. No-shows and cancellations after RSVPs close will be removed from this Meetup.
RSVPs open only 2 weeks in advance because I find most people who RSVP before that turn into a no-show or last minute cancellation.
